This past weekend the Sting had two away games in Ottawa. The team boarded the bus headed towards Ottawa at 11:00am on Friday their first team they faced was La Cete at 7:00pm Friday night.
The Sting went in to Friday's game looking to add to their win column. The game started out well for the Sting as they continued to apply pressure to La Cete forcing the team to turn over the ball and adding to the Sting lead. The Sting went into the half up double figures and looking to continue the push in the second half. La Cete had other plans on their ming as they came out and started the second half on a run closing the lead to 10 points forcing the Sting to call a time out. After the time out the Sting took control of the game never looking back and finished with at 30 point win.
Saturday afternoon the Sting faced Algonquin tip off was at 1:00pm. The Sting were looking to continue their winning ways against Ontario's number 1 team. The Sting came out strong against Algonquin trading baskets and applying great pressure. It was a close and tight first half as each team took advantage of the other teams errors. Algonquin took a 6 point lead into the half. The second half started out tough for the Sting as they were unable to find the basket while Algonquin was having their way breaking the Sting's press. They jumped out to a 20 point lead with 10 minutes remaining but the Sting battled hard to the end falling by 9.
Overall this was a good weekend for the Sting as the team began to play as one unit and encouraging each other on and off the court. They played well on both ends of the floor and played with the fire and passion that the coaching staff have been waiting to see come out of each player.
Tuesday the Sting will face Georgian in their final regular season game. This is an important game for both teams as Georgian is looking to make the playoffs and the Sting are looking to claim home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
