Today Seneca has an away game against Flemming College at 8pm ... It's an important game just like any other game and I am sure that the guys will come ready to work hard for that win ... That being said ... my mind is not ready to be fixed on that game ...
Today is a day that many people take for granted ... many many many Canadians fought and are still fighting around the world for the freedom that we have. My grandparents were in the war and my family was lucky as both returned from the war to have a family ... that is how I became a member of this world and this country I love so much ... Currently I have a cousin who has enlisted in the Canadian Military and is serving his country proud!
I don't get to talk to Jeff that often as he and his family are on the west coast of Canada and he is currently gearing up to be deployed to Afghanistan for his 2nd tour there ... he has already been to Iraq and other places around the world keeping peace that we take for granted everyday ...
I just wanted to put some things in perspective as even I take the world we live in today for granted sometimes ... I think of my grandpa and grandfather often and see how they raised my mother and father and hope that I can be half of them when/if I am fortunate to have children of my own one day ... I think of my cousin and his family and he is in my prayers as I want him to return home to his family safe and sound and to watch his children grow to become great men and women like he is ...
So on this day November 11th please take a bit of time and reflect with your players ... remember those that have fought and given the ultimate sacrifice so we can play a game that we love to play ...
They gave us their future so we can have a present ...
Love and miss gandpa Hopkins, grandfather Munro and Cousin Jeff ... all are in my thoughts and prayers.
