It was a cold Monday afternoon as Don Bosco was getting ready to play McGuigan in their 2nd last game of the regular season. Bosco with a 6-4 record was looking to improve their record ...
They finished their warm ups and came into the bench ... not even doing their usual pre game cheer! This should have been my first clue that they had come to the game not ready to play hard and get after it ...
We lost the game last night ... not because the other team was that much better then us as I think we can beat every team that we face because of the talent on our team ... we simply lost because McGuigan had 5 individuals on the floor playing like 1 team ... where we had 5 individuals on the floor playing like 5 different teams ...
It is very unfortunate when this happens but every so often it does and for the life of me can't figure out why the guys came out and played so selfishly ... we had a great tournament this past weekend playing like a fine oiled machine ... we lost in the finals and all the guys were down a bit but at the same time looked forward to playing Monday and showing the league how far we have come ...
It's unfortunate that we looked like we took steps back this game and that the guys didn't even care that the other teams was laughing at us ... I say us because we are a team ... when we lose or win I too am effected ... I don't think that the guys realize this sometimes that when they play like this it affects everyone on the team ...
I don't care that we lost the game ... you win some you lose some that is basketball but its the way we played the game that bothers me ... everyone was out there for THEMSELVES and NOT THE TEAM ... when this happens on a TEAM the chances of a positive outcome are few and far between ...
And if you think I am just blasting my thoughts out hear and not taking the time to talk to the team about this your wrong ... we sat with them and talked about it for 20 minutes after the game ... so this is nothing that they haven't already heard ... We all talked and everyone was on the same page regarding that we need to work together as a team and get back to WE ABOVE ME! ...
Wednesday we will find out what thoughts they have and if they take those thoughts and make them actions ... we play Johnson and their coach was once an assistant with our team ...
